Drop on Demand (Large Character Ink Jet)

Domino's large character ink jet printers have been developed to offer a range of coding and marking capabilities that are specific to the end users requirements.
Piezo and Valve-jet technologies are used to print onto a variety of porous and non-porous materials including corrugated outer cases, sacks, rubber, metal and PVC.

Piezo drop-on-demand (High-Resolution)

How it Works

Domino's C-Series high-quality printers apply Piezo shared-wall technology to print on porous substrates. The print head of the C-Series contains a series of chambers that are filled with ink. By applying voltages to the walls of these chambers, a distortion is caused that bows the walls outwards. This distortion causes the ink pressure to drop, drawing more ink into the chamber. When the voltage is released and the walls return to their original positions, an ink droplet is expelled through each selected print nozzle.
Collectively these droplets create high-resolution text, bar codes, graphics and variable data on to a variety of porous materials including corrugated outer cases, sacks and wood.

Key Benefits

  • Cost-effective alternative to labels, providing significant savings (typically ranging from 30% to 80%)
  • Increased printing flexibility enables ad-hoc printing runs and personalisation of packaging
  • Printing onto blank cases minimises variants in inventory and simplifies stock planning
  • Superior print quality and high speed are achieved through 500 nozzles printing up to 300 dpi
  • Capable of printing UCC/EAN-128 and ITF-14 compliant barcodes
  • Non-contact printing ensures package protection

Valve-Jet

How it Works

In valve-jet technology, a series of inline jets are controlled by valves that open and shut independently to produce streams of intermittent ink droplets. As the product passes the print head, these droplets create characters and graphics based on a grid formation.Domino's range of large character valve-jet printers use a variety of inks to print text and variable data onto porous and nonporous substrates:

  • Domino's C-Series standard print printers apply water-based inks technology to print multi-line characters and onto porous materials, mainly corrugated outer cases and trays.
  • The Macrojet and CaseCoder valve-jet printers offer both solvent and water-based inks. Besides printing on to porous substrates, nonporous materials such as rubber, metal, PVC and more can also be coded.

Key Benefits

  • Cost effective print of simple date, time and text
  • Easy operation and maintenance
  • Self-pressured print head ensures ink delivery
